Last year, I published my first Ask Me Anything here on Making Sense of Cents. That went super well, so I decided to make it more of a regular thing!

Ask Me Anything is literally that – you can ask me anything. If you’re struggling to figure out what to ask, here are a few of the topics you may want to know more about:

  • Personal finance
  • Blogging
  • My life
  • Travel
  • RVing
  • Sailing
  • Being location independent
  • Business
  • Making extra money
  • Questions about my dogs

And so on, and so on.

Seriously, ask me anything in the comments below, and I will take the time to answer every single one. Of course, please nothing inappropriate or creepy. I’ll let you be the judge of what is creepy, I guess, haha!

All right, go for it, ask away!

P.S. If you’re looking to see all of the comments and questions, make sure to hit “Older Comments” or “Newer Comments” below. The comments break apart in pages once there are over 50 comments.

    Hi Michelle!

One of the things I love about your site (besides the dogs), is that you have multiple niches happening. It was a big factor in my decision to buy your course.

I float between Pet/Dog articles, lots of music and Guitar stuff and some other fun topics too. Of course my Guitar stuff and ebook seem to be pulling in the most traffic.

My question is, do you think I should niche down or keep writing about all of the things I love?

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

Personally, I love writing about many different topics. I know some people think I’m crazy, though.

I say – do what you want to do!

      1. Craig

Thats the answer I was hoping for 🙂

    Hey Michelle,

In your personal opinion, what is the best source of information for learning how to generate traffic from Pinterest for an insurance agency?

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I’m not in that industry so I’m not an expert in it, but here’s my affiliate link for my favorite Pinterest course – https://courses.createandgo.co/p/pinterest-traffic-avalanche?affcode=119684_em78z7wf

        Hey Michelle,

Thanks – I will get on top of it and thanks for the referral.

        Best,

I am blogging since january but not getting much traction, How do you stay consistent with writing blog posts secondly how much time it requires to make money from blogging?

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

      1) I batch write – which helps so much! I like to write a lot of content at once and schedule them for way into the future.

      2) There’s no “set” time.

How can I start and monetize a movie/TV show review blog? I subscribed to and received your How to start a blog free course, but I was wondering if there are more specific techniques to promote this kind of content. Thanks in advance.

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

You can promote it in very similar ways – social media, a newsletter, etc.

  5. Adriana Copaceanu

How do you structure your posts once you have your keyword?

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I don’t focus my blog posts around a keyword.

My husband has a storefront computer business….we are in our mid 50’s and I keep trying to get him to switch it up so that he can work from home instead of running the shop…he has the skills to do consulting..already does some website design, and he already does “house calls” etc….sooooo my question is…any tips on convincing him that he could be just as successful w/o the storefront?
I really really want to be able to live on the road as much as possible…

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

Does he have a good website? Has he analyzed to see how much of his traffic comes from the storefront versus online?

Michelle, so tell us about life on the boat! Also, what was your reaction when Teachable asked you to be a part of Teachable Live Panel? I am just starting to grow my blog from a hobby to business, and add some online courses about Successful Adulting! Love your story.

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

The Teachable Live Panel was great and I’m so glad that they invited me on 🙂

Life on the boat is amazing. I’m so grateful!

Making sure website is legal. I was given sites to buy templates for privacy policy and other items needed to make sure the blog is legal. Have you used any of these? Trying to make sure things are done right on my side. If and when should you consider an attorney being needed?

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

Yes, I have used them but that doesn’t mean that they are all perfect.

  9. Michaela May

I have a very quick question. And I do know that you’re very busy.

The question is that I’m a very new blogger and I do not know much about it.

And this moment what would u recommend for me to do to make my blog successful any suggestions, please?

And I’m someone who is very behind my education so what should I do if I don’t know how to write professionally blog posts?

I would really appreciate if you just find 10 minutes of your busy life and answer it would mean a lot to me if you help me, please.

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

      Hello!

You can start with SEO right now, if you want. I don’t do much SEO so I’m not an expert at it.

I would recommend writing more, and being active on social media 🙂

    Hi Michelle

After reading through your section in the Essential Habits of 6 fig. bloggers, I wanted to know once you decided to fire your clients and focus on your site, what specific things did you focus on over those next several months for that first year helped you grow your blog and your income?
And now that its been 7 years, what are the top 3-5 things you think a new blogger should focus on now in 2018-19 when they are starting out and trying to grow their audience? Thanks in advance for your great insight! Michele

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I focused on learning more about how to promote my blog, such as on social media. I also created my first product – Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing.

The top things I think a new blogger should focus on include:
      1) Writing high-quality content
      2) Engaging with their readers
      3) Being active on social media
      4) Learning all about blogging

Michelle – thanks for helping us with your blog on Personal Finance. I want to know how do you get the internal motivation do blog diligently every week. It’s one thing to be passionate but sometimes other priorities and laziness can get into the way. Keen to know your thoughts.

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

      I batch write 🙂

    Hi Michelle,
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer questions. I have a few questions but my first is in regards to being location independent. I’m looking to start my blog soon but I’ve read information that I need to register my blog as a business in my state.
    1. I was wondering how does this work when you constantly travel or move a lot?
    2. Do you operate your blog as an LLC or Inc.? If so how long were you blogging before you felt the need to do so?
    Thank you!

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

      Hello!

      1) I’m not a lawyer or accountant, so I legally cannot give advice relating to this.

      2) I have an LLC.

  14. Claudia

    Hi Michelle

How many posts did you have before you saw a significant amount of traffic coming in?
I seem to spend a lot of time creating Pinterest images for my blog. Is this normal for other blogger such as yourself too?

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I’m not sure as I didn’t have Google Analytics set up in the beginning.

I create my pins, for the most part (sometimes my assistant does), but they don’t take too long once you get the hang of it.

  15. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I write about what I want to write about, so it’d be the same 🙂
