Last year, I published my first Ask Me Anything here on Making Sense of Cents. That went super well, so I decided to make it more of a regular thing!
Ask Me Anything is literally that – you can ask me anything. If you’re struggling to figure out what to ask, here are a few of the topics you may want to know more about:
- Personal finance
- Blogging
- My life
- Travel
- RVing
- Sailing
- Being location independent
- Business
- Making extra money
- Questions about my dogs
And so on, and so on.
Seriously, ask me anything in the comments below, and I will take the time to answer every single one. Of course, please nothing inappropriate or creepy. I’ll let you be the judge of what is creepy, I guess, haha!
All right, go for it, ask away!
P.S. If you’re looking to see all of the comments and questions, make sure to hit “Older Comments” or “Newer Comments” below. The comments break apart in pages once there are over 50 comments.

I have a food blog and use Amazon affiliates to promote items I use, however, I never get enough sales and they shut me down. I also have a few affiliate links with Share A Sale but have not made any money with that either.
Do you have any suggestions for other alternatives? I feel I am just missing something.
How’s your traffic? Do you have an email list?
Can you write a guest post for my blog?
My blog link is bellow
I’m not currently guest posting on blogs.
Binge watching anything right now? On Netflix maybe?
Nope! I don’t think I’ve watched TV since September.
So many people claim to have “the answer” to finding success blogging. How do I decide who to follow and learn from. Lots of people have different tactics (and sometimes opposing opinions) and still have massive followings. How should I pick?
Maybe follow the blog you enjoy the most? 🙂
What’s the #1 most important lesson you have learned in affiliate marketing?
That it doesn’t matter if you have a low amount of followers – it’s about the quality!
Do you know anyone who has experience with an IRS offer in compromise?
No.
I have done it.
Hey, Michelle thanks for giving us a chance to pick your brain. Anyways I’ve been following you for a while especially when it comes to affiliate marketing and I have few questions…
1. What is the right number of affiliate programs to work with? Should you focus on more or just a select few? Currently, I work with several programs but I noticed you work with a lot of different programs in your income report.
2. How much content do you recommend publishing in a week? Month? Right now I’m doing 1 article per week and I’m looking to increase this but time is a major factor for me.
Hello!
1) I talk about this in the course. I recommend starting with less than 10. You may decide to increase that afterwards.
2) I do 1-3 a week 🙂
Hi Michelle, I just started your affilate course. I’ve been blogging for more than two year and I have had little traction with my website. I’m thinking of ditching my current blog and starting a new blog that focuses on crafting vs. my current site which has a little of everything..lifestyle blog. Then applying what I learned regarding to affiliates to the new craft focused blog. Asimplesliceoflife.com is my current blog. Any insight you could give would be appreciated.
If you are passionate about the new subject, then I say go for it!
How do you feel you have found this much success in a sector (personal finance) that there are so many “experts”?
It’s all about finding a way to be different 🙂 Everyone has their own story!
Hi Michelle-
Can you clarify if you can put an Amazon link in a blog post that you send out to readers? If you can’t do that, what strategies can you share so we can still use Amazon affiliate links in our posts? I love your Affiliate marketing class- I got it for both my nephew and I last Xmas and we had challenges each week!
You can put Amazon links in blog posts, just not in emails. Is that what you’re asking?
If you were to start a blog
right now, what would you
do, that you didn’t do when
you started your blog back
then?.
I would have bought my domain name right in the very beginning 🙂
Hi Michelle – I am just starting to dabble in blogging as a business. I’ve used your website as a resource many times so far which has been super helpful! I’ve created my website and I’ve started building my content (still very early days). My plan is to launch in 2019. I am always looking for other blogs with subject matters that interest me to see how they are monetizing their site and how they are positioning their content. Do you have a list of blogs that you admire or would recommend checking out? I am looking at subject matters related to personal finance, young parents, young professional, home enhancement, adventure, lifestyle etc.. so almost anything :).. Is there a good website for finding blogs?
Thanks!
Patrick
Hey Patrick!
I don’t keep a written list of websites I enjoy, but I do read a lot! I like pretty much everyone in the finance, lifestyle, and travel niches 🙂
Thank you for answering our questions.
Who are your current mentors and successful people you now learn from or go too for answers yourself?
I don’t have any formal mentors, if that’s what you’re asking. I do network naturally, though, and learn from my peers 🙂
I’ve been saying I want to start a blog for years!!! I’ve started and stopped generating content for the past 8 years. My problem is that I have a problem figuring out what to write about on a regular basis. Do you have any recommendations or books to read about generating content?
I recommend reading the featured question here – https://fund-rise.live/2018/09/august-2018-blog-income-report.html%3C/a%3E 🙂
Are you in my affiliate marketing course? http://makingsenseofaffiliatemarketing.com
I teach that subject in here.
Some things you’ll want to think about:
1) Is it a good fit for your audience? What works for one blog may not work for another.
2) Do you have enough traffic to the link?
3) Are you being helpful when you link to the affiliate link?
