I have always been a big fan of Reddit’s Ask Me Anything threads, and then recently, I saw that Steve published an Ask Me Anything on his blog. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to decide to do one of these. But, here it is, and I hope you think it’s going to be as fun as I do!

Ask Me Anything is literally that – you can ask me anything. If you’re struggling to figure out what to ask, here are a few of the topics you may want to know more about:

  • Personal finance
  • Blogging
  • My life
  • Travel
  • RVing
  • Being location independent
  • Business
  • Making extra money
  • How much candy I eat on a daily basis
  • My favorite TV show
  • Questions about my dogs

And so on, and so on.

Seriously, ask me anything in the comments below, and I will take the time to answer every single one. Of course, please nothing inappropriate or creepy. I’ll let you be the judge of what is creepy, I guess, haha!

All right, go for it, ask away!

P.S. If you’re looking to see all of the comments and questions, make sure to hit “Older Comments” or “Newer Comments” below. The comments break apart in pages once there are over 50 comments.

Do people really make a lot of money online selling anything except material on how to make a lot of money online?

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

Yes, people make money in all niches. It only seems that way to you because those are the people who post income reports (it wouldn’t make much sense for other niches to publish income reports).

    Hi Michelle!
I’m planning to start a lifestyle blog next year. I live in Argentina but I’ll write in english because my audience will be mostly from foreign countries, so my question is: Do you think it’ll be more appropiate to adapt my blog and social media posts to the current season in the Northern Hemisphere (although it differs from my current season)?
If I write about something that is relevant during the spring months for example, but my audience only cares about fall because that’s the season they are in, then the content I create will be useless.
I really want to provide my readers with valuable content, so as a blogger with such success and experience, what do you think the best option would be?
Thank you very much for your time! I’ll appreciate any piece of advice you can give me.

This is tough. If it were me, I’d want to post for where I am and be in “real time”

      1. Camila

        Thank you! 🙂

        1. K

And you can always repromote the content you post during the opposite season in the other hemisphere’s season, or link to content for opposite seasons within your posts.

          1. Camila

That is a good alternative too. It’d be a way of being true to my season while also providing useful content to my readers. Thank you! 🙂

          2. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

            Yes, K is right! 🙂

    Hi Michelle,

Do you attend any conferences for Bloggers? If so, please share which conferences (name, dates, city, and state) would be the most beneficial for new bloggers.

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

FinCon is my favorite! It’s different every year.

Hello 🙂 my questions are, my blog is brand new. So when writing a product review do i still link to amazon or do i wait until I’m an associate to do that and only write about the product without links, adding the links later when i can be an affiliate?
When linking to another site or blog do i need to ask their permission first?
And what is safe to write in a post that is a book review without it being plagiarism?
Thank you for this opportunity and thank you for your time. Ive been googling these questions with no real answers!

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

You can do it either way – it’s just personal preference.

You do not need permission unless you are taking something from their website (words, image, etc.).

If it’s your own words, then you are safe.

I was definitely afraid to leave my day job!

I knew it was time when I came to really hate my job and really loved to blog 🙂

  6. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

Oh yeah, and I don’t miss anything about my former day job. There’s literally nothing I can think of.

  7. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I don’t really make anything with Amazon – it’s just not an area that I have ever tried with. I only make around $100 a month from it.

I would love to start a blog but I have no idea how to set up a site. I registered my name but it is all so confusing to me. I am so not a techie. Are they VA’s out there that can help get me started so I can do what I love to do and write. I need some handholding to get me through the maze. I see so many blogs on this but they only go so far and then I’m definitely stuck.
    Thank you, Michelle.

Do you follow the “save, give, spend” rule some financial experts preach with your amazing monthly income?

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I don’t spend anywhere near what some financial experts say to spend. I save a LOT.

Hi Michelle, Did you have much success with Adsense. I’m at the early stages of my blog and I want to get the foundation right. Would you use affiliate offers and adsense together? Thanks in Advance

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I didn’t have tons of luck with Adsense. I prefer Adthrive or Mediavine.

      2) Yes, they are completely different.

      1. Jenny

Thank you for mentioning us Michelle! We’re happy to answer any questions you have at Mediavine.

    Hello Michelle,
I have completed your Affiliate Marketing Course, which was very helpful and I’m going to go through it once again. I’m struggling with trying to find out the best way to get email subscribers to my page.
Do you have any tips on how you started building your list?

    Thanks in advance

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

Freebie optins are the best way to get email subscribers. I like to provide free printables, free email courses, and more.

  12. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

    1) That’s not really something I’d like to do, as I’m happy with outsourcing things instead.

    2) Eventually, I would like to. It just keeps getting pushed to the side.

    3) To keep growing and reach as many people as I can!

    Hi!

I also have a wordpress question that I have been scouring the internet for and have come up with no answers.

In Wordpress, under ‘Settings’, on the ‘General’ tab, there is ‘Wordpress Address (URL)’ and ‘Site Address (URL)’. In the text box for ‘Wordpress Address (URL)’ , is my temporary domain (if I change it to my actual domain, things get really wonky). In the text box for ‘Wordpress Address (URL)’ is my actual website address.

To me it seems that my temporary domain should not be there, but I can’t figure out how to get rid of it without things breaking (I don’t know how to explain it, but things don’t work right). I am using Elementor Pro as a plugin and I have put in this same question to them (I have an open trouble ticket with them now) but since you have this going on now, I thought I would ask you too.

    Sorry so long.

    Thank you!

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I am not the best with tech problems. I’d recommend contacting imarkinteractive.com

      1. Bridget

I have not heard of them. thank you for the information!

    Hi Michelle!

Do you have a “worksheet” to keep all your affiliate links in one place so it’s easier to grab them and blog or pin?
Also, do you have a list of the best/highest paying affiliate programs?

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I have PrettyLinks for almost all of my affiliate links, so I have most of them easily memorized 🙂

      No, I do not.

  15. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

    As long as they can!
