I have always been a big fan of Reddit’s Ask Me Anything threads, and then recently, I saw that Steve published an Ask Me Anything on his blog. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to decide to do one of these. But, here it is, and I hope you think it’s going to be as fun as I do!

Ask Me Anything is literally that – you can ask me anything. If you’re struggling to figure out what to ask, here are a few of the topics you may want to know more about:

  • Personal finance
  • Blogging
  • My life
  • Travel
  • RVing
  • Being location independent
  • Business
  • Making extra money
  • How much candy I eat on a daily basis
  • My favorite TV show
  • Questions about my dogs

And so on, and so on.

Seriously, ask me anything in the comments below, and I will take the time to answer every single one. Of course, please nothing inappropriate or creepy. I’ll let you be the judge of what is creepy, I guess, haha!

All right, go for it, ask away!

P.S. If you’re looking to see all of the comments and questions, make sure to hit “Older Comments” or “Newer Comments” below. The comments break apart in pages once there are over 50 comments.

I just recently started my blog within the last year and seem to barely get my blog with 15 views a day. I want a bigger audience and I want to be making money from my blog, but I’m not sure about what products or services I can offer. Do you have any suggestions about how to make money and grow my blog?

This is a great idea, but why aren’t you doing it on Reddit where all great AMAs are hosted? Google Reddit AMA for anyone who doesn’t know what I mean. This would be a great addition to Reddit’s wealth of information and garner you more fans.

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

Ha, maybe one day! I did it this way because it was for my blog readers.

    Hi again 🙂
    Got one more question.
Do you have many VA:s doing different things or just a few that takes care of everything.
Where do you go to find really good VA:s?

    Many thanks!

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I have just a few that specialize in different tasks.

For me, I just reached out to people I already know 🙂

I’m going through your 7 day course and preparing to start a blog to generate a second income stream. I know a little bit about a lot of things and a lot about just one or two. Fishing and hunting are passions, can you direct me to a specific affiliate site (I’ve read through Day 5) that would be better for related links? Thanks!

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

Can you elaborate on your question? I’m not sure what you are asking.

    Hey Michelle,

Thanks for providing this forum to pick your brain.

    Have a few questions:

What are your top five national park destinations?
What are your travel plans for the rest of the year?
How much was it to convert your Jeep into a camper? We are planning to buy a jeep unlimited in the future and maybe looking to making it into a camper as well.

    Thanks again

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

My favorite national parks (although, I do love them ALL) include: Rocky Mountain, Canyonlands, Glacier, Grand Tetons, and Joshua Tree.

For the rest of the year – We are heading to Dallas soon, then Austin/San Marcos, Memphis to visit family, Alabama, and then scooting over to our winter spot – Tucson.

It was expensive – over $20,000 to do everything to it so far. The Rubicon was around $45,000 too.

I would like to know if a blog + Pinterest program can be successful without an offering. I am planning on starting a blog which is more a compilation of “advice” and resources (healing from past hurts). I’m not sure what product would suit as I won’t be teaching anything. So, if I just monetize the blog, will that bring in passive income?

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

It depends on what your definition of passive income is – blogging is definitely not passive unless you are referring to affiliate income.

I’m also not sure what you mean by “product.” Do you mean selling a product that you create?

Hi Michelle! I’m learning so much from your course right now 🙂 One question I have regarding blogging has to do with making listicles that include other people’s content. Do you have experience with this, if so, is it recommended to contact all content creators prior to making that blog post and ask for permission or is it okay to use the content while making sure to give that person credit and provide a link to his/her site?

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

As long as you aren’t using their content directly (such as copying and pasting) or their images, then you don’t need their permission just to link to them.

  8. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

Ha, that is tough. I really love everywhere!

  9. Nancy

    Hi Michelle:

First, thanks for being such an inspiration to so many of us.

My question is simply, what is the ONE course or class that was the most valuable to you that you bought from someone else?

    Thanks!
    Nancy

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

oooh that is a tough question! I bought EBA a few years ago and that was great because it taught me a lot about Pinterest.

      1. Nancy

Thanks for your reply. I had considered that course, but felt that an investment of $750+ was far too expensive for a new blogger like me. Which brings me to a second question:

When you were first starting out as a blogger, how did you determine how much to spend on courses and products to help your blog grow? Did you set spending limits, or just ‘go for it?’

        Truly thanking you,
        Nancy

        1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I didn’t start out blogging with the intention of making money from it, so my path is not the same that you will probably take. I didn’t take any courses in the beginning, because that would have been crazy given the path I was taking (it was 100% JUST a hobby).

    Hi Michelle!
I saw that one day you would like to have a family… would you consider continuing to RV and raise your kids on the road (like the bucketlist family) or would you settle down and go back to living in a house?

    Thanks!
    Melinda

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I don’t see anything wrong with living in an RV and raising a family. I have no idea what I’d do when I have children, though, haha.

I just signed up with BlueHost and took a look at Genesis. I really don’t understand what exactly is does and the difference in it and Wordpress themes. What theme on Genesis do you recommend? Do I need it starting out or just use Wordpess themes?

    1. Kristie Smith

I ended up buying Genesis then realized I had to buy theme as well. I went with the Market them, but Genesis looks like I have to be able to write a bunch of code. It looks very confusing! Do you have a tutorial or know where I can go to learn how to do this. I am very tech savvy and even had a programming class is college, but this is way over my head as I am used to how easy Weebly is.

      1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I do not have a tutorial but if you find it too hard, I definitely recommend just buying a premade layout, such as one of the ones I talk about at the end of my tutorial – http://fund-rise.live/2014/08/how-to-start-a-wordpress-blog-on-bluehost.html%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

    Hi Michelle,

My question was, can you monetize a blog that speaks about emotions and philosophical topics? I recently started a blog that would document the last half of my life but Im not sure if I can monetize it through avenue like affiliate marketing. Thanks in advance for the response.

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I would definitely think so. 99.999% of topics can be monetized.

    Hello Michelle

What was the one thing you did differently that gave you a breakthrough in income? Thanks!

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

Being passionate about what I was doing 🙂

    Hi Michelle,

I can see you have enormous amount of followers on your social media. I’ve been writing blog articles on a daily basis and tried to stay very active on social media, but I’m getting little attraction.

What are some key steps you took to build followers on your social media? 🙂

    Many thanks,
    Thomas

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

Engaging with readers as much as I can 🙂

    Hi Michelle,
How do you get the sentence about “affiliate links” at the top of each of your posts without it actually being part of your post? It seems like it’s part of your headline when I press on the link for each blog post, which is nice because it doesn’t show up as a part of the summary of the blog post on the homepage.

    Thanks,
    Victoria

    1. Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

I had my tech person add that and it’s just a part of my theme.
